You Can Never Go Back to Your First Love

Ok, updates first.

Firstly, Honorbound is well on its way for my approval of the layout. The artist, HTTPaladin assures me he is within a week of being finished. This is astonishing news considering he had to restart from scratch due to my months of rewriting and updates!

Secondly, you want adventures for Dee Sanction? Cause this is how you get more adventures for Dee Sanction. This week Raspy Raven Discord channel is hosting all six winning adventures from their competition judged by the creator himself, Paul Baldowski!

It has been one week since Copernicus’s coffin was delivered to John Dee in London. A skeleton with a silver dagger plunged into its chest plate with a note that asked; “Do you Believe now?”

Players will navigate popular theories of the time. Characters will have their very belief system challenged. If they fail, it could literally mean hell on Earth. Based on real world events and discoveries!

Thirdly, well, this one is gonna take a little bit of fanfare to announce that I have been chosen to write an adventure for an OSR fantasy system called Bree-YARC (Yet Another Retro Clone) starting kickstarter soon: Bree-YARC Core Rules by Todd — Kickstarter!

You can find the quickstart rules here: Bree-YARC Quickstart Rules – Third Kingdom Games | DriveThruRPG

It has been almost 30 years since I last dabbled in fantasy rpgs. During that time away I have run my own game store, published an alt-history Victorian chaos fest known as Goblyn Market (regrettably made with AI art), and have the three musketeers shot into space epic Honorbound coming out soon (more on that update)!

Maybe the continuing taint of Hasbro pushed me away. Or the exhaustive rules mastery after so many books ground me down. What I truly believe is it was for the love of the game.

I spent hours drawing maps, creating colorful NPCs, and weaving insidious conspiracies. The Royale Kingdom rotted from within as the dragon cult rose to power. Morindale’s puppet government was overthrown by the alliance. Religious pantheons maneuvered for rank as relics were found on sunken pirate ships, desert ziggurats, and enchanted forests.

The player characters loved and lost. The disappointed father that his son took up the sword instead of the plow shear. A tender night spent to heal the dreamscape. A betrayal that ran so deep a character was retired rather than continue to play them.

It took me three decades to come to grips that I will never have the time AND the drive to delve into those epic fights again. I accept my realities of parenting and all around having more responsibilities as put away those rose-tinted memories. They helped explore the world in a safe space to help me become the person I am today.

But, maybe I can create new memories for others?

It is with a rekindled excitement I am examining fantasy realms that brought me into the hobby in the first place. Calysar, Everfresh, and Burke can be shared with others in the guise of new worlds built by Todd LeBack. I will never forget the King of Pigs rampaging through the fall festival. And with this new iteration, you won’t either.

I finally pseudo named my youtube recordings! We revisit Goblyn Market by highlighting on overlooked favorite of mine, compatible with Carved in Brindlewood. Harrowed Hearts of Somersend – Jerod Leupold | DriveThruRPG Art by Abigail Bozarth!

The One year ago, a tragic fire set in motion the end of times for the village of Somersend. A ‘blazing demon’ torments field hands, preventing the barony a bountiful yield for this year’s Harrowing. Three lovelorn hearts hold the key to what happened at the grist mill and how to stop the doom.

Afterwards we are going to take a break from recording Jerod Leupold – YouTube until after the holidays. We had a great time showing you Honorbound for most of the year and dipping into Brindlewood Bay.

Speaking of Goblyn Market… Someday I will publish a second edition featuring:

  • some of my favorite artists
  • streamlined rules
  • rules for the High Seers (witches and warlocks)
  • rules for Fairies
  • campaign rules for a growing and changing Goblyn Market

But 2026 is quickly filling up with new ventures as I finally publish some Mutant City Blues casefiles, get a Honorbound mini-campaign to market, and run my first ever solo kickstarter for Legends of the Khurst Riders!
