Kickstarter Update #15
In the past four days I have been given the initial page layout AND the first 38 minutes of recording for our live action play of Goblyn Market for approval! The end is in sight! It is a surreal and panicky feeling.
First of all, that anyone is looking to me for advice in mediums that I hired them to work on is strange. I know they are just making sure we are on the same page. In all endeavors communication is the easiest thing to do right to make sure you meet your goals. Still feels weird to me at times.
I got some guidance a long time ago that went something like this; why would you hire an expert only to ignore their advice. This was told to me by someone who decided it wasn’t worth his time to help people build better decks for the Game of Thrones card game. He was sick of folks asking his advice and then arguing with him about the changes.
Secondly, I don’t know of any creator worth their salt that puts their creations out into the world without trepidation. What if people hate it? What if people love it and want more? Or even worse, what if people don’t care?
Assumably if you are reading this you have an invested interest in Goblyn Market being awesome. Playtest is one thing, being dissected by hundreds of players is another! By proxy of another event that happened this week I will tell you that any way Goblyn Market turns out for the masses it will be supported.
Paroxysm by Design Turns One
I turned in my yearly filing last week meaning PbD turned one. At the time I originally created the LLC I didn’t realize you don’t really need to do that anymore for sales. But, I did it anyway and here we are.

To commemorate the anniversary, I sat down and listed out my output goals. Specifically, for Goblyn Market I’m in the process of finishing a trilogy of introductory adventures that will introduce a couple new market actions. A monthly article posted on my website about new curses, market actions, and new gameplay for Goblyn Market. A yearly new release introducing the fey and witches as playable characters. And six new affairs throughout the year.
This will meet two objectives. A) Allows me to be flexible with introducing new rules and ‘standard best play practices’ as feedback rolls in. B) Help frame future products and where I should spend my time. C) Keep my mind on Goblyn Market as a way to make it better. I have no doubt there will be future editions.
Personally, an edition with all original art is the number one desire. A book with all the playable factions between the same two covers. Tables fully updated to go along with a stylized tarot deck. These are my dreams written out in black and white. Until then, let’s get the first book into your hands! May the Tootle Pip never chime 13.
